Mrs. S., 40 year old lady consulted us about eruptions she had on the left hand extensor aspect since 3-4 years which went on to the palms. She was complaining of marked itching, which used to be aggravated at night and was better when she used to be occupied and after application of cold water. Some of the lesions showed discharge, which was sticky. She also had similar eruptions on other limbs. After a clinical evaluation, her condition was diagnosed as Psoriasis.
As a child, she had been quiet and reserved. She preferred to be alone and didn't mix with people; and had few close friends. She was good in her studies. She had marked motion sickness and never sat in the swings, she felt very uncomfortable. Fear of closed places.
As a grown up she found that would become angry very fast on least provocation. She could express herself on the spot. She would also broods over the subject later on. If someone tried to console her, she used to get all the more angry. She never thought of taking revenge; she said and she believed in God and felt He will take care if someone does something wrong.
Her family relationships were good and she was happy with her husband and children. In the last 3 years, there had been 3 deaths in the family. These had a marked effect on her.
She had a fight with her father and both had stopped talking with each other. After this she had gone for a vacation and during this period her father suddenly expired. This had been like a silent grief inside her. She felt very sad when she would think about it. The patient had been deeply affected by the death of her elder brother. Even at that time, she felt very sad and would weep if somebody mentioned anything about him. She had been depressed for quite some time due to the death of her brother.
She had suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis in school days, which was treated by AKT.
On examination, her vital parameters were within normal limits.
After evaluation of her case, she was prescribed Natrum. Mur. She responded to the treatment excellently and first her itching was bought under control and subsequently her lesions stared drying up and finally healed. The spread was also under control. Mentally too, positive changes were found in her. She was found to be more relaxed and cheerful.
